I have set up this blog in response to recent requests from friends and family members to share my recent art and craft endeavors. My plan is to make monthly updates, at minimum. If all goes well, I may do more frequent updates (I'm hoping the need to blog will inspire more creative moments).
Before I start posting artwork, let me fill you in on my current situation. I graduated in May of this year (2009) with a B.A. in studio art. Since then, I've been teaching sewing and quilting classes at Joann's. Thanks to my grandma, I have been asked to illustrate several children's books (more on how that goes later). Although I have enjoyed teaching crafts and doing freelance work, I am still looking for something full time. In the meantime, I will keep working on my portfolio.
Now I would like to share with you a very recent project. A friend and former co-worker of my sister asked me to do some sketches for a nonprofit's website. It will probably take a while for them to put up the images, but here are the two best:
The above sketch was designed after a woman named Blooming Night, the company's namesake.Just a rose, but I like how it turned out.
Update 6/17/2013: Sadly, the company that I did these illustrations for no longer exists. It was a fun project, anyway.
First off, I'd like to know why you didn't tell me you started a blog!!! ;-) Just kidding . . . I see you just started it this week. The sketches turned out great! I'm sure Suzanah is very pleased with them!
ReplyDeleteHeehee. In between my Italy trip and my Australia/New Zealand trip, I toyed with turning my blog into an art blog (This post!) so I'd have more motivation to do artsy things. It didn't entirely work. But now that traveling is done, perhaps I shall return to the art blog attempts.
